Biden and the Environment

During Trump's presidency he rolled back ninety eight rules that protected the environment, with fourteen more in progress for a total of one hundred twelve. One hundred twelve rules that kept us and the environment safe. They ranged from animal safety to air pollution to toxic substances to drilling and extraction. Now that Biden has been sworn in as president, he is working to put these rules back in place. Just yesterday he put the US back in the Paris Agreement and stopped oil drilling in the Arctic refuge, as well as signed an executive order to stop the Keystone XL pipeline permit. Biden also plans on cutting all greenhouse gas emissions from the power sector by 2035, although many leaders think that this is way too fast. It will require lots of different pieces and waves, as well as lots of cooperation within many parts of the government. Electric vehicles, clean energy, and lots and lots of effort are all part of the solution. One way that he can achieve this is to set a limit on emissions and then over time make it smaller and smaller until the goal is met. Because the senate is now controlled by democrats, this is more likely to happen, but it doesn't mean it is going to be easy. One thing that might stand in the way of this is lawmakers from states that make a lot of money from producing fossil fuels. There is still a lot to be done, but this is definitely a great start.
