Voting Survey

The voting survey had a very mixed amount of responses. I chose 4 answers to look at. The first two answers were democratic women. I found it interesting that the majority of democrats were woman or neither male nor female. They both answered the questions pretty much the same, except one of them answered the question about LGBT laws, saying that we have enough laws to protect them, while the other disagreed. That was the only difference in answers for the two democrats. The other two answers have a different story. One was a republican male, and the other a republican female. I expected them to answer the questions pretty much the same, but they did not whatsoever. They differed the most in questions about race, and sexism. The first question about gender equality asked "Do you think men and women are treated equally in the workplace?" The man answered that there is a little inequality, while the woman answered there is no inequality. I found this interesting since this issue would have affected her more than the man. And in the question about the Pink Tax, the man said he has no opinion, and the woman answered no. This question was more predictable since this is actively affecting the woman and not the man, except the other question most likely actively affected the woman as well, but she answered as if it doesn't. The other topic I was surprised by was questions about race. When asked if Trump had helped in Racism, the man said "Neutral" and the woman said "agree", but the most shocking was when asked about BLM, the man answered "ALM" and the woman said she supports BLM but she does not partake in activism. When asked about white supremacy, they answered the same, and said that there is no white supremacy in America. I think that these answers shifted my view on the republican party in a small way. I used to think that the majority of them would just say whatever President Trump said, but now I know that their views can be very mixed, they agree on some big issues, but for the most part it was surprising. I was interested in this so I looked at more responses. The statistics showed that mostly woman who identify as a republican actually gave an answer and shared their opinion, while the men seemed to just choose the middle answer.

In the next survey I think we should regulate the amount of "other" answers. I think this skewed the survey since they could just click other and move on. I also think that the answers where you can type another answer should be allowed, but it should be closely monitored or you should be able to delete the joke answers. Another thing that could help is if we made who can answer the survey more strict, we should make sure that underage kids can not answer, just because it can skew the results.
