Deshaun Watson- accused of violating Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964

Disclaimer: as the law says, Deshaun is innocent until proven guilty, but we should always believe/ listen to the victims. As of now, he hasn't been proven for any of these many changes, so these are all accusations as of now. 

During the past 2 weeks, many women have stood up saying the football star Deshaun Watson had sexually assaulted them. 22 women have come up saying he forced them to touch his genitals during a massage, and 2 women so far have filed lawsuits. His lawyer said everything was consensual and these accusations were completely false. The women claimed that he would turn over, and forcefully take out his genital and force the women to touch them. Many people questioned why the women went along with and did as he commanded, but we’ve seen instances like this a lot in Hollywood and with people of high power. Many times their high social status is used as a way of intimidation, they say things like “no one will believe you, you're a nobody, I’m powerful and you have nothing, I can ruin your life in the snap of your fingers” etc. This is exactly what happened to some of the women, and this was said in one of the reports, “Watson is accused of making threatening remarks to the women to prevent them from coming forward. After an incident in which Watson allegedly exposed himself and touched a woman's hand with his genital, he's accused of telling her, "I know you have a career and a reputation, and I know you would hate for someone to mess with yours, just like I don't want anyone messing with mine.". 

These are some other quotes of what happened to the woman, “Watson then allegedly forced the woman to perform oral sex on him, wrapped his legs around her neck, and told her to perform more sexual acts. “Watson "aggressively started dictating the massage and where he wanted Plaintiff to touch him on his body," he began "forcefully telling her to move her hand down to his pubic area" before forcing her to perform oral sex on him.”

Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination and violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 when it occurs in the workplace. He is directly violating this civil rights law and will hopefully be held accountable. Issues with sexual assault in the workplace have always been an issue, but it’s even more upsetting to see high power people in which we trust to perform these disgusting acts. Sexual harassment and rape are serious issues that everyone needs to pay attention to. According to the CDC 1 in 5 women have experienced a completed or attempted rape, 1 in 3 of these victims experienced it from the ages of 11-17, and 1 in 8 of these victims experienced it before the ages of 10. Right now 2 of the women are taking their cases to court, and Nike has suspended their partnership with him. I hope Deshaun is held accountable, and women will start using their voices because they shouldn't be made fearful by the scum that used them as toys.

But recently Arkansas passed a bill that highly affects trans rights and healthcare. The bill states that trans individuals are not allowed to get gender affirming surgeries.
