COVID-19 has affected the economy in a way that no one expected. It has had a negative impact on the economy and has exceeded over 20 million cases in the United States. President Biden and his treasury secretary, Yellen, have come to the conclusion that doing too much has a smaller risk than doing too little. There are also 10 republicans proposing an idea to Biden, and this proposal is smaller than the democratic proposal of 1.9 trillion dollars. Due to the pandemic the United States economy is far from normal. The Job market is very weak and getting hired is very difficult in these times. Lots of people have lost their jobs because their boss’s can not pay them due to the weak economy.
I definitely see how COVID- 19 has impacted the economy in a negative way and I am very interested in how Biden is going to strengthen it. I am curious to see if Biden will take the Republicans proposal or the Democratic proposal. I think that because of the pandemic we will not go back to the old normal but instead we will continue to adapt to the ‘new normal’. About every 100 years there is a virus outbreak which kills thousands of people, and sadly I had to be here for one of them. I agree with Biden and Yellen that doing too much is better than doing too little. This is because being ‘enough’ or just average is not the best way to think. If it is possible to be above average then putting in the extra effort is worth it. In regards to the job market I think that there are other reasons for why it is weak but I definitely think that COVID is the main cause. Sadly lots of people’s wages are being dropped and some people are even being let go from their jobs. Hispanic people are especially being affected because they are very poor and already work lots of hours in all climates. Now that the economy is very weak, they are being paid even less, and this is not enough money to support them. I am glad that the vaccine is out and I am hoping that the economy will soonly get stronger. Hopefully the vaccines will come out this year and the virus will die out.
