The promise from Biden to Georgia voters was simple : Deliver the Senate chamber to Democrats and they'd deliver $2,000 stimulus checks. Since Georgia voters did that President Joe Biden first legislative push is an economic aid bill including $1,400 direct payments. A group of 16 Senators including Democratic Sen. Joe Machin and Republican Sen. Susan Collins, are pushing to make the direct payments more targeted towards families in financial need. That could mean reducing the income levels for those eligible for the checks. Both rounds of stimulus checks last year deceased from households with 2019 adjusted gross income above $75,000 pre individual or $150,000 per qualified couple. Those rounds also completely phased out checks for individuals earning above $99,000, and joint filers with no children at $198,000.

This is important because this helps a lot of people who are in need. During this pandemic a lot of people have lost their jobs and a lot of people are struggling. This can help people turn there life around. This can help them pay rent, get a new job, afford things like food for their families, and afford an education for their kids. With people spending that money, it will help boost the economy. Also, if the government gives the money to people in need, the people who get the money wouldn't have to rely on friends, neighbors, or family for money. That means that everyone can spend money on their own things which really helps the economy.
