Trump’s Border Wall
At the Mexican border construction workers are strictly following Trump’s orders to finish as much of the wall as fast as possible even though Biden’s administration is likely to stop all construction immediately. Contractors are destroying miles and miles of wildlife to create roads and space for this great wall. They are bulldozing mountains and dynamiting desserts just to be able to build. The workers are cutting land for roads that no vehicle can even go through and are planning to build a wall on it. They're going as fast as possible but some environmental specialists are saying that at the rate they are going they don't know what detrimental effects the wall could have on the wildlife. Specialists are saying that they are not sure how the bats will respond to the constant light that the wall emits. Not only could the wall put a strain on wildlife but as well some ranch owners filing lawsuits after boulder-sized rocks are landing on their property. These rocks come from mess-ups while dynamiting the mountainside. The reason Trump wants this wall up is to protect the American citizens from immigrants that illegally passed the border. Although there are many people that are against the wall, there are still some that are glad the wall is being put up. Like Art Del Cueto, a member of the National Border Patrol Council, he said that "I know there are wildlife and all that stuff. But at the end of the day, as callous and as horrible as this sounds, I think the lives of people are a lot more important than anything else…” He explains that the people who are against the wall are using the wildlife as a cop-out for some people, and they use that as their little ace up their sleeve so they can prevent border security."
I think that people's safety should be taken into account and valued. I also think that wildlife is very important and Trump’s administration is not taking the precautions necessary to make sure that the wildlife is maintained and protected. It is not right to rush a project to just finish when there is not enough research to show that the wildlife will be maintained.
