Poison Is In You

There is a greater danger from factories than we realize, most of us only think about carbon emissions and how pollution is bad for everything however no one realizes that people are already affected by this. There is a substance called PFOA or perfluorooctanoic acid this is used to make a number of things such as Teflon, firefighter foam spray, sealants, floor wax just to name a few. The substance has been detected in ninety-eight percent of all Americans of all ages the amount of PFOA in a person's bloodstream depends on how close they are to the factories most Americans have a few parts per billion in their blood which isn't bad till you think of how did they get it if they don't even live that close to the factories. PFOA was studied in a lab with mice and they found that it caused many problems such as many forms of cancer (breast cancer, testicular cancer, kidney cancer) ulcerative colitis, thyroid disease, and it has been seen to cause birth defects in children when they are born but this isn't the full extent of what it can do it weakens the immune system and now especially the scariest part is it seems to make vaccinations less effective and during a pandemic, one can see how this is problematic. The main spread of this is through water and was recently noticed when a farmer's cattle started to get sick all of them and eventually died and before long the farmer too passed. Why isn't this being talked about a lot? I did do some research into this and it turns out that without a lot of public attention of grief the industries chose to phase the production and use of it out by 2015 and it seems that they were successful the only problem is that this chemical has the nickname "forever chemical" this means that they barely decompose at all and it states in your blood a long time.

Arkansas' Anti-trans bill

  Isa Pedersen  Mr. Roddy  IHSS 9 April 2021 Arkansas’ Anti-trans bill  For centuries the trans community was discriminated against. But recently Arkansas passed a bill that highly affects trans rights and healthcare. The bill states that trans individuals are not allowed to get gender affirming surgeries. This included hormones such as testosterone and androgen, as well as puberty blockers. This is said to be one of the most detrimental bills passed against the trans community in ages. Not only this but some states have already passed bills that don't allow trans kids to take part in sports or competitions. These states include Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi. Tennessee and Alabama are already starting to get the same bill passed. Texas is on the list that is assumed to follow Arkansas and pass the bill as well. Andy Walsh Mr. Roddy IHSS 6 April 2021 The Pandemic has Been Bad for Civil Rights  The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a lot of challenges to today’s society. However, in Latin America it is an even bigger issue. Across all of Latin America, the health crisis has been accompanied by civic disruptions causing the lack of communication and justice in civic spaces. Widespread quarantines and lockdowns have put a lot of stress on the civic system of all countries. However, countries with high poverty and large homeless populations have had trouble enforcing rules related to COVID.
