How Will Biden Stop Climate Change?
Climate change poses an existential threat to our modern day environment. Our health, national security, communities, schools, and economic well-being are at risk. Our new president, Joe Biden, promises to change this throughout his time in office. He plans to face climate change in ways that no other president has. There are a few ways that he plans on accomplishing this.
Joe Biden will lead the world to address the climate change emergency. The Biden plan will ensure that the U.S achieves an 100% clean energy economy and reaches net-zero emissions no later than 2050. Biden will demand that Congress enacts legislation that 1) establishes an enforcement mechanism that contains milestone targets, 2) huge investments in clean energy and climate change technologies, 3) quickly deploy climate change technology to cities that need it the most.
Biden also plans to gather the whole world to meet the threat of climate change. He believes that climate change is a global challenge that requires decisive action from every country in the world. Former president Donald Trump refused the offer to join the Paris Agreement, which is a legally binding international treaty on climate change. Biden, however, will not only join the agreement as one of the first things he does in office, but he will even go further than that. He will lead an effort to get every major country to ramp up the ambition of their domestic climate targets. To do this, Biden will use the ability to execute presidential executive orders.
