Federal loans going to Anti-Vaccine groups

The Trump administration provided over $800,000 in funds to anti-vaccination organizations during one of the most dangerous periods in American history. Split between just 5 groups, this money, which was supposed to be used to help keep small businesses afloat, is now being used to spread misinformation and propaganda regarding the American vaccination system. Many of these organizations and their supporters have been blocked from social media for spreading false information regarding vaccines. However, a large majority are Trump supporters.

The vaccines that have been developed so far for the coronavirus have been proven to be safe, having no ill side effects. These people simply choose to deny science in favor of perpetuating their own false beliefs that are bound to lead to the suffering of countless others, and it's terribly sad that they're getting away with it. However, many have already been banned from social media, and all groups are prohibited from purchasing advertisements on a multitude of websites. It's a step in the right direction, but even still, the movement has captured the attention of over 2.7 million individuals. “These organizations have been sowing the seeds of doubt about vaccines and public health for years,” said Erica DeWald, who works at the non-profit organization called “Vaccinate your family”. DeWald ended with the following: “Now, in the middle of a pandemic, they are accepting funds for the chaos they’ve helped to create”. In order to combat misinformation, the government should enact more restrictions on a federal level. This denial of science has directly lead to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, and it is certain that there will be more and more deaths as the pandemic rages across America. It is my hope that President Biden will do something to combat misinformation regarding vaccines in order to preserve the health of as many people as possible.
