The United States Becoming Uninhabitable

I read the article “Climate Change Will Make Parts of the U.S. Uninhabitable. Americans Are Still Moving There.” I also did some follow up reading in “New Climate Map Shows a Transformed United States.” these articles talked about how if nothing is done to slow down the rate of climate change the western and southern parts of the United States will become uninhabitable in the next 20-40 years. These parts of the United States will become uninhabitable due to the rising temperatures and humidity, this causes a wet-bulb which would make temperatures of 80 degrees feel much hotter. These parts of the United States would also be more prone to wildfires, rising temperatures, rising sea levels, and massive economic downfall. There would be a massive economic downfall due to the drop of real estate pricing, lack of usable farmland due to the high temperatures, this would impact the production of corn and soybeans. The amount of uninhabitable land in the United States would continue to spread upwards making the north the safest place to live, while also causing the cold temperatures to rise.

This article was very enlightening and caused me to do some deep think about what can happen so that climate change can slow down since at this point in time we can not stop it we can just extend how long earth will be livable. This article also brought me to think about if living in the southern and western parts of the United States are viable places to live in the near future. In the article it talks about that decided where to live is a common thought in millennials. In order to be able to live in the United States for the longest time that is possible is to make sure that everyone knows the risks that will happen if nothing is done about climate change, this way we can come up with a viable solution this inevitable destruction.
