Voting Survey Results

I will be comparing the party affiliation results with the specific question, "how much do you agree with a government mandated vaccine?" There are an equal amount of responses to both questions. 59.5% or 75 people said that they affiliated most with the Democratic party, while only 19% or 24 people said Republican. There are other parties added too, with the largest being the Independent party with 7.1% or 9 people. When it comes to the data pertaining to the vaccine, the results were more mixed than I expected. Altogether, people who either agreed or strongly agreed evened out to about 55.6%, with 29.4% or 37 people going to agree and 26.2% or 33 people going to strongly agree. 18.3% or 23 people chose to disagree, and 12.7% or 16 people chose strongly disagree. There were 17 people neutral, or 13.5%. Now it is usually thought that Democrats would endorse something like this, but the survey results show otherwise. After taking a look at the sheet results, there were many people who affiliated with the Democratic party and either disagreed or strongly disagreed with the idea of a government-mandated vaccine. Republicans were mostly against the idea, and like I said before, a large number of Democrats disagreed as well. We talked about it in class, and we came to the conclusion that the reason that so many people and especially Democrats disagreed with government-mandated vaccines may possibly be because we added the words "government-mandated". This means that it is required to get the vaccine, and that sounds a little intimidating when you really think about it. If we had used different language to phrase the question, we may have gotten more people to agree than disagree.

I think something we could've done to make the process easier and more effective would be better distribution. We did a good job of creating and perfecting the survey questions, distributing them to the public, and checking the results post election. There were a few mess ups that led to people adding in their own answers and important questions being added in after most people took the survey. I personally wish that we were able to distribute the survey to a wider range of people. The majority of people who took the survey were Democrats and females. I feel that we would have gotten more realistic results if we had a more varying demographic.
