Pufferfish

 My childhood toy, or toys, were a bunch of cute pufferfish. I would always use them with my brother Ian, and we would use our imaginations to create adventures. They were a present from my mother, and I am very thankful for them still. We also used our Magnatiles® to make a “puff puff hotel”. There was never pressure to buy them, we got them as a gift. 

    I remember each of their names: Puffy, She Puffer, Weird Puffer, Funny Puffer, Strong Puffer, Ice Puffer, go-go Puffer, Goo Puffer, Dragon Weird Puffer, Baby Puffer, Fire Puffer,  Fat Puffer, Bee Puffer, Grumpy Puffer, Housekeeper Puffer, Sand Puffer, Armor Puffer, Jet Puffer, Chef Puffer, Hot Puffer, and a few others. They all have their own unique personalities that Ian and I created. Our favorite was Funny Puffer because he was their leader, and he was silly. 

Ian also loved Jet puffer because he was cool. He was a good friend to the other puffers, and he had ‘jets’ on his fins. Our first puffer was Puffy, but then Ian fell in love! That was when we got grumpy puffer, and the obsession began! We can still recognize each of them individually by their slight color differences, and the way they have their fins. Many years ago the company stopped making them, and we were really sad. We still got tons of pufferfish that we truly loved as I still have them today.

Arkansas' Anti-trans bill

  Isa Pedersen  Mr. Roddy  IHSS 9 April 2021 Arkansas’ Anti-trans bill  For centuries the trans community was discriminated against. But recently Arkansas passed a bill that highly affects trans rights and healthcare. The bill states that trans individuals are not allowed to get gender affirming surgeries. This included hormones such as testosterone and androgen, as well as puberty blockers. This is said to be one of the most detrimental bills passed against the trans community in ages. Not only this but some states have already passed bills that don't allow trans kids to take part in sports or competitions. These states include Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi. Tennessee and Alabama are already starting to get the same bill passed. Texas is on the list that is assumed to follow Arkansas and pass the bill as well. Andy Walsh Mr. Roddy IHSS 6 April 2021 The Pandemic has Been Bad for Civil Rights  The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a lot of challenges to today’s society. However, in Latin America it is an even bigger issue. Across all of Latin America, the health crisis has been accompanied by civic disruptions causing the lack of communication and justice in civic spaces. Widespread quarantines and lockdowns have put a lot of stress on the civic system of all countries. However, countries with high poverty and large homeless populations have had trouble enforcing rules related to COVID.
