Liberty blog

India Riley Mr.Roddy IHSS March 18, 2021 Liberty Blog This section was intriguing to read because it seemed to be a draft rule. The writing indicated that this bill was being debated, but it is yet to be written. I recognize that this rule exists and that certain situations would be in confusion if it did not; however, I agree that the way it is stated should be more like an order than a recommendation. The majority of legislation is based on this and is solely designed to keep Americans healthy. As they explain in the reading, any of these allegations may be exaggerated. They were considering enacting a bill that would make it illegal to brush up on a statue of a significant figure, and anyone who did so unwittingly would face prison time. This sounds excessive to me, but it is a statue, and even though it were an actual human, it might be deemed offensive though not illegal. While this example was never written and is no longer a statute, many other rules seem to be very harsh....

Economics; The Distribution of Income in America

Cape Echols Mr. Roddy  IHSS 7 March 2021 https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lxsqcdK1jjuTWiiNd87FpRvFNNZHCXBfyuvtMwBaG60/edit The Distribution of Income in America The distribution of income has become an increasingly debated topic. There is no real black and white views on the topic. To what extent you believe the government should redistribute wealth is dependent on your values and political beliefs. The author of the article frank Levy views the term “income distribution” as a statistical concept. There would be no one person distributing wealth. The amount of distribution depends on the decisions people make about work, savings, and investments. People’s financial interactions with markets using the tax system affect wealth distribution. The distribution of income changed in the 1990’s and early 2000’s as people witnessed an expanding body of work which can be explained in three points. Firstly, pretax wealth distribution in America is extremely unequal. Studies show that hou...

Liberty

Before reading about Liberty, I had no idea what it meant. I knew it was an important word but I could never wrap my head around the definition of the word. Now that I've read about it, I have quite a few thoughts on it. Firstly, the meaning of liberty. Montesquieu says that liberty is about living under laws that protect us from harm while leaving us free to do as much as possible. He also states that a government should separate their executive, legislative, and judicial powers of government so that the different bodies of power can check the other if they abuse their power. The reason for doing this is because if one person or body holds all the power, then there is a high chance that the person or body could abuse that power and become a tyrant. This was quite interesting to me as I had never considered the fact that power was shared between different forms of government in order to prevent any one power to abuse their power. It also makes me wonder what the first person to hol...

Geltung Blog WWII

Galtung's conflict triangle is applicable to any sort of conflict. World war two is no exception. Galtung's triangle can be broken into three different parts; Behavior, Attitudes/ Assumptions, and contradictions.understanding each party of the conflict in question can be broken down in these three sectors.  On the latent level a contradiction in the axis powers specifically Germany lies within the disparity the country of Germany and the German people faced after the first world war. Left in economic ruin due to the immense debts after being declared the loser of World War One, Germany was cast aside by the rest of Europe. A shell of their former self in regards to territorial holdings and political sway a new political party formed which promised to return Germany to its prior status and more. The beliefs and actions of this political party would give way to the second world war. Similarly, on the latent level. Hitler’s Nazi party believed that the Aryan race was superior t...
